Insurance for US plates car in Chile

Hi Everyone.  I will be crossing from Argentina to Chile in the next week or so.  I plan to cross at Paso de Jama on Highway 52.  Are there insurance agents at that border or does anyone know of a company that I can purchase from ahead of time online?  Thanks!

Help! How can a tourist get insurance in Canada? We're an argentinian couple trying to buy a car in Quebec to start the trip

As the title says, we're an argentinian couple trying to buy a car in Quebec to start the trip. We went to the dealer and everything was fine until we started to look for insurance.

Most companies have simply rejected our application because we're not canadian citizens or we don't have a quebecoise driver's license. We're kind of desperate because without an insurance we cannot buy the car and without a car we cannot make the trip.

For Sale Off Road Mini Bus / Casa Rodante Central America

We are an American couple, we drove our Ford E450 Diesel minibus with offroad tires and California plates throughout Baja, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nica, Costa, and Panama for 1 full year in June. We have to get back home and are planning on selling this month (May). It is the most perfect, beautiful home you will ever see with a full kitchen, big bed, solar panels, wood floors and plenty of storage. Plus the engine is working great, well maintained and super strong! We've never had problems aside from a tire blow out on a gnarly road in Baja, MX.

NEED HELP finding third party insurance Valparaiso

I am looking for some guidance getting third party insurance in Chile. My truck is due to arrive in Valparaiso the 20th of this month. My wife and I will then start our 6 month South America road trip for our honeymoon. I thought I had everything in order until my customs agent told me she can't find anyone to insure my vehicle because it is over 15 years old. I'm having trouble finding much current info on third party insurance. Wondering if this is just something I can take care of easily and buy in Valparaiso or if it's going to take a lot of effort to get done.

Mexico/Central America insurance

We are traveling from Canada to Panama with a class C motorhome. We have been advised to continue paying full premium through the BC provincial system and apply for a refund when we get home. Problem is they will only insure for one year and we may take a little longer. Has anyone just cancelled their Canadian/US insurance and gotten new insurance when they crossed back? Any repercussions? We have sold our house so we only have a mailing address now.

US/Canada car insurance foreign cars

We will be arriving in Halifax on February 27th and are still looking to get car insurance, have been rejected by at least 8 companies. Car is too old, don't insure foreign cars, not possible when arriving in Halifax etc.

Does anyone have any tips on where to get our vehicle insured?

Very grateful for any leads..

SOAT in Peru

Peru requires auto insurance (SOAT), even for foreigners transiting the country. We'll be crossing from Ecuador in about a week - haven't decided which border to use yet.

Does anyone know where to buy short-term SOAT near one of the borders?

Border Crossings in Central America with expired home country license plate/insurance

Hello everybody,

we have a question regarding the expiration of our home country insurance in November 2011.

We bought a car in Canada and had it insured for one year in British Columbia. This insurance expires at the end of November 2011. The date is shown on the rear license plate and on the registration papers. We are currently in Mexico and will enter Belize soon.

We are not sure if this will cause any problems when crossing the borders of the following countries:

- El Salvador

- Honduras

- Nicaragua

Setting off soon - a few questions

Hi all, we're new to the site and are planning a trip that starts this summer. We live in the UK. We'll be flying to the US to buy a campervan in July and then plan to enter Mexico at Tijuana, drive down Baja California and then drive to Argentina via everywhere-ish! It's great to find a place where we can converse with like-minded folk. Sorry there are so many questions below...
