  • More gear but didn't want to list out everything

History - We purchased the car in Santiago, Chile at the beginning of May 2016 from a Swiss couple who had purchased the car from a dealership in Colorado (USA).  We had the car inspected by Martin @ Santiago-R (great mechanic on iOverlander) who said it was the second best overland vehicle he had seen (the first car was a barely driven, newer Pathfinder, garage kept, etc). Out of all the normal options (4Runner, Pathfinder, Montero) we liked the 4Runner the most due to the impeccable reliability and Toyota being the car choice of South America.

Title - The car is titled and plated in Florida, USA in our name. There are no annual emissions test with the ability for legal title transfer.

About us - We are a couple from Orlando, Florida, USA who started a year long travel adventure through South America in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the end of December 2015.  We originally were backpacking, but after renting/hiring a car to travel Patagonia and meeting other overlanders, realized how much we enjoyed traveling by car and how possible it was. Our original intent was to drive back to the US but decided with our timeline, it would be too rushed.  Therefore we have been taking our time and plan to make it to Columbia.

Price = $7,000 USD

Location - Preferred in Columbia/Ecuador but would consider Peru/Chile

Time - Early December with some flexibility

Very interested

Hello Uriah and Brittany

We are very interested in your vechile, just a couple of questions; what would the process be of legally changing ownership?

Can the bed platform be easily folded so that the back seats can be used?

Thanks very much

Hey Suzi,

As stated in the description, the car is from the USA with title and registration from the state of Florida.

Hey Carl

Hey Carl,

Bed - Currently the bed is a single structure that does not allow for use of the back seats.  As we have never needed them, we have not modified this.  We have seem many travelers with this ability and think the modification to do this would be rather easy.

Ownership - Florida is a very friendly state regarding title transfer to foreigners.  Also, since the car is already titled there and does not have any annual test that require the car to be present, it is just paperwork.  I can send you a more detailed description if you send me your email or message me at [email protected]
