Temporary import taxes - Colombia

We are looking to travel into Colombia from Panama.

1. What temporary import taxes are in place for bringing a vehicle into Colombia (Mexican registred)? What percentage of the blue book value is taxed?

2.Is a Carnet required for Colombia?

Thank you

Costs and carnet

Please see Shipping your vehicle across the Darien Gap for costs associated with entering Colombia.  I don't believe there is a specific import tax just for bringing a foreign car into the country, but there are shipping costs.  As far as I know, a Carnet de Passage isn't required anywhere in Latin America for personal vehicles - commercial vehicles is probably a different story.

We concur with Kristin. No

We concur with Kristin. No import taxes (unless they have been implemented in the last 4 months since we shipped). The only fees we paid were shipping fees. You can extend the temporary import of the vehicle in Colombia up to six months total and all you need is proof of insurance.

No Carnet required for the Americas.
