Reason for taking this trip:
The trip started as an adventure and we decided to turn it into a mission for some great causes; student scholarships (Gresham Grant) and disaster relief (Heart to Heart International).
Why did you decide to drive?:
Originally, the trip was just an adventure, but the more we planned we thought "why not do this for a good cause" and raise funds through awareness. So we asked people and companies to sponsor us. All of the monies donated went to the charities we were riding for.
What type of car are you driving?:
Did you make any modifications to your car for this trip?:
We made a few modifications in order to carry more gear. Three of the bikes were involved in accidents..
How did you save up or finance your trip?:
Each rider paid their own expenses.
Where do you plan on driving? :
We shipped our motorcycles to the tip of South America (Ushuaia Argentina) and then rode back to the USA, and then on to the Arctic Circle.
What were your family’s and friends’ reactions when you told them about your trip before you left?:
They supported our efforts.
What languages do you speak? Will you learn more on your trip?:
Do you have a favorite place that you've visited?:
Every country involved a new adventure! See our blog @ www.MilesWithAMisison.org
What was the weirdest thing you experienced on your trip?:
The list is too long to mention. All the standard stuff, like having our motorcycles confiscated and paying bribes along the way.
What was the worst border crossing?:
Do you have any advice for others who may be considering driving the Americas?:
Go for it. It's a trip of a lifetime.
